Grant Means

As a child of the Great Recession, Grant Means saw how financial uncertainty causes widespread pain and panic.  This spurred his personal search for the value of a dollar -- over time, Grant felt a broader calling to leverage his story to benefit others.

On his path to becoming an Eagle Scout, Grant gained a love of nature and commitment to helping other people at all times.  In that light, his mission is to plant seeds of knowledge that teach others to grow, climb, and soar to greater heights. He draws inspiration from the vision that all people are empowered to learn practical wisdom and achieve a better tomorrow.

Grant earned his undergraduate and masters degrees in engineering from Stanford.  He believes there is a compelling call to action in that Chinese proverb, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

Start Now Press (SNP) is a new type of publisher specializing in financial literacy children's books. SNP strives to tackle poverty, inequality, and the shrinking middle class in a new and under-addressed way -- by improving and reinforcing children's financial literacy before they develop a tangible relationship with money.

Our first trilogy, ‘The Three Little Pigs’, highlights the influence that people's spending, saving, and investing habits have on their communities.   ‘The Cash Cows’ is, perhaps, the most exciting series in our pipeline. These stories highlight the travels of a bovine family and unlock culturally-specific financial lessons for each city they visit.

We work with various nonprofits, education organizations, and financial institutions to incorporate our existing materials into their community outreach programs.  Additionally, we continue to tailor curricula for schools and implement more technology to augment multimedia offerings while increasing accessibility.
